My home printer often doesn't work so I was keen to try it this way and yes, it was way easier! I ordered it online and honestly, the time delay didn't matter as it gave me a deadline to clear the table, find the fabric etc.</p><p>I'm definitely going to be making myself more of these as it is super comfy to wear, I love how it doesn't have buttons!</p><p>If you want to follow my sewing journey with this top then you can <a href="https://youtu.be/TXE7fyCW2BM" target="_blank">see it here on my Youtube channel.</a> You'll have to tell me what you think of the fabric that I used. I upcycled an old vintage bed sheet as I'm trying to use what I have rather than buy & store & therefore 'hoard fabric'.</p><p>Unfortunately, I haven't been able to take any more photos of the shirt yet as it's super cold here at the moment, too cold to be outside in a thin blouse!</p><p style="background-color: white; color: #767676; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 13.2px;"><i style="color: #a4b6b5;">I'd love it if you popped over to my <b><a href="https://www.youtube.com/c/CraftyRie" style="color: #87b2d6; text-decoration-line: none;" target="_blank">YouTube channel</a> </b>& subscribed to it & even liked some of my videos. They are the needles that glide easily with any project with any yarn. Bonus points if those needles are have interchangeable swivel cables & cables ends to make life easier, so you switch from the back to the front, sleeves etc with your project and not have to worry about dropping stitches or losing needles.</p><p>I absolutely recommend these KnitPro knitting needles, not only are they are incredibly beautiful, I love the style, the feel and how they all come together in the set. </p><p>The knitting needles set that I'm using is The Gratitude set that is from the <a href="https://mindful.knitpro.eu/" target="_blank">Mindful collection by KnitPro</a>. They are an all inclusive set, knitting needles in a large range of sizes, with all the cables & accessories that you need.</p><p>The knitting needles are smooth gliding needles that are easily attached to the cables. The cables have a swivel action, so they won't tangle, bend or crimp in your knitting. If the cables aren't long enough then there are cable connectors included so make the cables longer. The matching accessories included in the cute case are cable ends, darning needles, cable keys (for attaching the cable to the knitting needle) and a large variety & styles of stitch markers.</p><p>This handy knitting set is the perfect gift for yourself or the new or seasoned knitter in your family. </p><p><a href="https://mindful.knitpro.eu/" target="_blank">Check them out here</a> for more information!</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguN1XsYKEjPOF-DuiX1tU2h6R_UdgUIkZ3GLY1sWqOd8nTY8JV5dUtppLHBGvhOM9sjZBl8k7-0MhRjfk_ATdART4-D4_MWLS8d32l0bv3H7Q29N17AFTQf3euRWktISpA9o-nwNjIigdwK0SASR-vdAVAXzrubV3E-CqzoAq79s8yG1h3DiNVR97s/s3024/knitpro_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguN1XsYKEjPOF-DuiX1tU2h6R_UdgUIkZ3GLY1sWqOd8nTY8JV5dUtppLHBGvhOM9sjZBl8k7-0MhRjfk_ATdART4-D4_MWLS8d32l0bv3H7Q29N17AFTQf3euRWktISpA9o-nwNjIigdwK0SASR-vdAVAXzrubV3E-CqzoAq79s8yG1h3DiNVR97s/s320/knitpro_2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><p><i style="color: #a4b6b5; font-family: "Trebuchet MS", Trebuchet, Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 16px; white-space: pre-wrap;">This has been a collaborative blog post, all images, thoughts & comments are my own.</i></p>Riehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00787875556216073643noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7033124482473810171.post-3627644168311541642023-03-08T10:51:00.001+11:002023-03-08T10:51:37.122+11:00The 25yr project<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoJgFo_5f1KcVNyx9t9wZ_VW1vSMrfvxzC1BWq_1Z--q81otB31bSToeBmxLUu9Ez1NxReofjVEBTI7KYP5qzD3saK-mfn4mYZ0fKmiBs332wPreCczQcMTZh_Hk4TYQ7IRCfMkEdsScmfJ5so7V-y8EEJ9JBdw5uu_QFGwCQLCyrU7zMBpb10TRth/s3088/Woollenblanket_2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2320" data-original-width="3088" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoJgFo_5f1KcVNyx9t9wZ_VW1vSMrfvxzC1BWq_1Z--q81otB31bSToeBmxLUu9Ez1NxReofjVEBTI7KYP5qzD3saK-mfn4mYZ0fKmiBs332wPreCczQcMTZh_Hk4TYQ7IRCfMkEdsScmfJ5so7V-y8EEJ9JBdw5uu_QFGwCQLCyrU7zMBpb10TRth/s320/Woollenblanket_2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><p>Have you ever had a box that you moved from here to there & back again for years & years? I had the wrong sewing needle, wrong tension, no space on the table and kids that needed feeding. </p><p>I got there in the end and I think it looks awesome! The motif on the front of the case is a dragon that my son designed & drew onto felt for me, I then cut it out and hand stitched it to the case before folding the sides and sewing it up. I used a piece of <a href="https://amzn.to/3YevWCR" target="_blank">velcro</a> for the closure as I didn't want to scratch his new laptop!</p><p>For those not in Australia, our school system is like this: <br />~ school year starts in February as it's mid summer, <br />~ Primary school goes from Kindergarten to grade 6,<br />~ High school is grade 7 to (now) grade 12 & <br />~ the year the child turns 5yo is the year they start Kindy.</p><p>p.s. the dents in the below photo are from the <a href="https://amzn.to/3RH15w6" target="_blank">clips</a> that I used when I was thinking I'd hem the case but it turns out that the fabric doesn't need hemming! Not forgetting those gifts that are personalised, now those type of gifts truly show that you've taken the time to get them something special, <a href="https://tidd.ly/3NeOazq" target="_blank">here's a link to see a gift guide</a> chocka block full of personalised gifts.</p><p>First let's think a month long gift, yes, those awesome Advent Calendars but good ones! </p><p>Did you know that you can get a <a href="https://tidd.ly/3zeedB2" target="_blank">Tea advent Calendar</a> and even a <a href="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=10781&awinaffid=349013&clickref=Blog%3A+etsy+xmas+gift+guide+2022&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fau%2Flisting%2F900159231%2Fdog-treat-advent-calendar-25%3F" target="_blank">Dog Treats Calendar</a> for that special pooch in your life.</p><p>For those who love the great outdoors & gardening, there is a gorgeous <a href="https://tidd.ly/3zcSF7G" target="_blank">Seed Bomb pack</a> or these <a href="https://tidd.ly/3SLoiwg" target="_blank">gorgeous cat planters</a>.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><a href="https://tidd.ly/3g7xj5k" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="532" data-original-width="805" height="211" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY5NmaeYCbTt3iLMr2nsFD62dgpxvE7-pBXhqkffowSqvdy_hapoEDkCnyYF5F9idA5rtW5DRmsLJ8Kr8yEMzTG-XX8b_ww1qCrGUuUal7YhiURrGOr99wU5kG086wl6KNfRYZHL4vjl24uW_fRSqD39O3r9hz6u0ZbOHvNLpcnpYgKIeVXAQ96Dww/s320/etsy_bookends.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://tidd.ly/3g7xj5k" target="_blank">Image via Patimetal</a></td></tr></tbody></table><p>For the book nerds in your life, <a href="https://tidd.ly/3TKCsz2" target="_blank">these book ends are super cute</a> and <a href="https://tidd.ly/3gyrsWw" target="_blank">these book ends are using the force</a> to hold the books in place!</p><p>Acknowledge the hat wearer in your life with <a href="https://tidd.ly/3W4vkyP" target="_blank">possibly the best cap on Earth</a>!</p><p>For that super hard person to buy, well, <a href="https://www.awin1.com/cread.php?awinmid=10781&awinaffid=349013&clickref=Blog%3A+etsy+xmas+gift+guide+2022&ued=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.etsy.com%2Fau%2Flisting%2F819007742%2Ffucktopus-octopus-middle-finger-vulgar%3F" target="_blank">this Octopus is</a> giving me the vibes! </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><a href="https://tidd.ly/3zejWXy" target="_blank"><img border="0" data-original-height="500" data-original-width="856" height="187" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeXMt5YbzXWb1Ca0gU0EIKjQdObTDYgerEx03xlphGRgszyh8nDElL46oKe0GMZNHKMJ4uSxxy8jdfPOrcHDtIovCWkJK35cvhWFm10x1r9JoFVEvuUBHkoVW0XkCYj-GxBRfDKPEv5sfFtvd0ebmp15dWtOriU3rTHP6lr4PdcOxVIbzXI495SDFh/s320/etsy_pug%20rings.jpg" width="320" /></a></span></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://tidd.ly/3zejWXy" target="_blank">Image via MonvatooLondon</a></td></tr></tbody></table><p>You've probably never thought of giving a doormat before, that's because you've never seen one as <a href="https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/1196907137/pvc-diy-cutting-funny-welcome-mats-for?" target="_blank">cool as this one!</a></p><p>The <a href="https://tidd.ly/3DAnbeu" target="_blank">best designed toiletries bag ever,</a> in fact, I think I'd use it as my handbag! </p><p>Lastly, you need to <a href="https://tidd.ly/3zejWXy" target="_blank">check out this store for their jewellery</a>. Hubby asked me what I wanted for my birthday, so I sent him a link of what I really, really wanted and wowzer, he bought me it! Such a lovely surprise, I've been wanting one for years but after I borrowed Mum's I didn't actually want one after that as threading it was a total nightmare & made me very crabby. So later, I did some research and I totally made the right decision in choosing a machine, are you keen to know what I got? Hmm, I'm now the proud owner of <a href="https://amzn.to/3eSvwR1" target="_blank">this overlocker/serger,</a> it's the easiest thing to thread ever. It's even easier to thread than my sewing machine! I totally recommend it, especially after I've now made several things on it & changed the threads a few times, that air threading button is a dream to use!</p><p>I made the first pair of trousers below (the <a href="https://amzn.to/3Dhs0cs" target="_blank">dinosaur</a> ones) 100% on the overlocker, including the hems on the legs, waistband & elastic. I also didn't use a pattern, that's why they're a big baggy but hey, Joe still loves them.</p><p>I then made the second pair, the top image, using a pattern (<a href="https://petitestitchery.com/products/kids-yoggers?_pos=2&_sid=dbeb4cf8d&_ss=r&ref=CraftyRie#" target="_blank">this one</a>) and once again, just used the overlocker including the pockets, hems, elastic & waistband. I love the style of these trousers and have made them before for Joe and he's always wearing them as their super comfy. Oh & fyi, the <a href="https://petitestitchery.com/products/kids-yoggers?_pos=2&_sid=dbeb4cf8d&_ss=r&ref=CraftyRie#" target="_blank">pattern</a> is a free one, so grab it & make them too!</p><p>I honestly, did not know that you could sew a complete item like this on the overlocker, I always thought that you had to use your sewing machine as well to make them in conjuction with the overlocker. So now I'm keen to find out what else I can do with the overlocker!
